Nursing Home Facility - Data Source
In order to help consumers in their search and evaluation of nursing homes the National Eldercare Alliance© (NEA) provides an easy to read and to understand version of the Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) survey data. This data reflects the results of state inspections for approximately 16,000 Medicare certified nursing homes agencies in the United States.
The CMS data derives its data from two sources:
 - The OSCAR database - CMS's online survey, certification and reporting database.
- MDS Repository - Medicare's national database (MDS) which consists of ten quality measures depicting the percentages of patients in a facility compared to the national average for each of the ten characteristics.
Important Note: This data only shows and pertains to those nursing home facilities that are certified by Medicare. It also does not contain data for assisted living facilities.
